Elizabeth Van Lew

           Elizabeth Van Lew is not very well known name, as she was not mentioned in history textbooks. While she is not taught about in schools and history textbooks very often she played a role so important, that if she had not done what she did, the United States might still allow slavery. 

    Elizabeth Van Lew was involved in the American Civil War era. Her role in history was a spy fo the Union. She was a rich Southerner, yet she risked her wealth and life to do what she felt was right.
